HOUSE IN ALLISTON

2018

Commissioned as part of Harvard University's Zone 3 initiative, this month-long public art residency transformed a vacant building in Boston's Allston neighborhood into a large-scale, site-specific installation.

Rather than treating the house as a single wall, we used the entire structure as our canvas. Bold geometric forms wrap around corners, stretch across multiple façades, and continue onto the surrounding ground plane, allowing the architecture itself to become part of the composition. Inspired by movement, symmetry, and the neighborhood's built environment, the artwork was designed to be experienced from every angle.

The project extended beyond the mural itself. Throughout our residency, we hosted community workshops, including public screen-printing events that invited visitors to create alongside us. These moments of collaboration became an important part of the project, turning an empty building into an active gathering place for the neighborhood.

Over the course of nearly a month, the site evolved from an unused property into a vibrant landmark-demonstrating how temporary public art can activate a space, encourage community participation, and create new ways of experiencing the city.
